I'm watching the Saints game. I am so nervous... my whole body is shaking, my heart is pounding. Everyone who is watching the game with me is wearing fleur-de-lis jewelry... every single piece that I have.
God... I don't want to say anything to jinx us. |

| | Under Pressure- Queen and David Bowie | ] | I am so burned out. I metaphorically feel like jumping off a bridge every single day. I have such a love-hate relationship with Smith at the moment. I love being here, but I swear the professors are trying to kill me. Nothing makes you feel the daily grind like midterms. I've had four papers due this week, I have two midterms next week (Monday and Wednesday), and a paper due next Friday. Then my last midterm is the following week. UGH. Smith, how you abuse me. If you don't here from me in a while, you know why. I filled out most of my study abroad forms. I still need signatures and a bunch of other stuff, i.e. essays, etc. but I felt better after filling it out, because it makes it seem more realistic after you do it. My choices are: (1) Nagoya, Japan (2) Tokyo (3) Prague (4) UCL in London I need to finish writing my paper for tomorrow. UGH. On a lighter note, I bought the 3-disc Queen's Greatest Hits. I feel very superior. |

The new term is "socially aware." Apparently, some "people" who actually control the universe, decided that if one says something is politically correct, then it would mean that there is a "politically incorrect" way of saying something. A right and a wrong way. So, they changed it to "socially aware." Who the fuck cares? Seriously! I just thought I'd pass the insanity of it all along. |

| | Fidelity- Regina Spektor | ] | Wow... so much has happened since my last entry. I got a job at Sunnyside Children's Center. I work with the toddlers, ages one to three. They are so cute and awesome. I love it. I got into the Myth of the Dark Ages class, which I love. It's so amazing. I love my Monday - Wednesday schedule, but it lasts from 9 am to 5 pm. It drains me so much. And then you think that I would be able to rest with Tuesdays and Thursdays off, but I work 4 hours at Sunnyside, and then I have to come home and do 4 classes worth of homework, so my days off are not relaxing by any means. I was so mad that Mountain Day was on a Tuesday! I know that I should be grateful that we even have a Mountain Day, but it just sucked that I didn't get out of any classes... and I still had to work! And even Otellia Cromwell Day is on a Thursday! I just can't win this semester. UGH! It's been dreary and raining all weekend, so I didn't get much done this weekend. I've been feeling kinda blah for the past couple of days, full of pre-cold symptoms. FUN. We're going to go to Ren fest on the 16th, so I am psyched! So, I think that's it for me, besides the fact that I'm in love, caught in a awkward state of limbo. So, continuing in the theme of FUN-ness. In fact, all of my friends here are in love. It's so weird! But, yeah, that's my life at the moment. |

| | Long Distance Call- Buck Tick | ] | Sorry I was MIA this entire summer. Basically all I did was work, sleep, go horseback riding, and swing dancing. My mom and I fought about everything this summer. We always seemed to be at each others throats. We fought about enevelopes for christ's sake! I think the main reason we fought is because I tried to subtly and not so subtly hint that I want to be a history major and not a gov major. So, I think that's the heart of our... disagreement.
So, I am back at Smith and I love it here! I am so glad to be back! Convocation was last night and our theme was "The Hub in Scrubs: Know Your Anatomy." So, I wore a red buttoned down shirt left open to show my black bra, black slacks, and black strappy heels. I wore a name tag that read "Hub Hospital Administrator." So, I was basically Cutty from House. Go me! A lot of people just taped red crosses over their breasts, so I was probably the most decently dressed person there!
And then afterwards as per Hubbard tradition, we all went skinny-dipping after convocation. That water was fucking freezing! It stole my breath away as soon as I jumped in. I was in there for a total of 2 seconds before climbing out. So, we were all going back to the house. I was leading the second group, I got to the top of the hill as a look out, only to see Public Safety pull up, with me in my towel (skinny-dipping is illegal at Smith). So, I motion to the other girls to hide. Public Safety pulls up, there's a lady in the passenger side and a man in the driver's seat, and she asks me if I am going to go skinny-dipping. And I truthfully say, "No" as my hair is dripping wet. So, they are trying to stare me down, converse between themselves, and then I think I here them say, "We'll just catch them at the houses." So, they leave, and I yell at the girls that we'd better haul ass back to Hubbard. I have never been so fucking scared in my entire life! But now it's kinda funny, so whatever.
My schedule this semester is as follows: WWII in East Asia MW: 9-10:20 Ancient and Medieval Political Theory MW: 11-12:10 Medieval England MW: 1:15-2:30 Myth of the Dark Ages (waitlisted) MW: 2:40-3:55 Early Christianity in Conflict (class I'm going to take if I can't take the myth class) MW: 2:40-3:55
Alrightly, I think that's it for now. I'll try to update regularly. So, I hope everyone is well and having as much fun as I am! XD |

| | RENT | ] | YAY! I survived midterms and am now home for Spring Break. I actually got back Thursday, but I was busy painting the house. Apparently, mom finally got the insurance money, so we can repaint the house, put a new roof on, etc. The house is going to be sage green, with lavender shutters, and cream trim. It'll be so awesome once we finish. We're even going to redo all the rooms. We going to put hardwood floors upstairs and in the library and living room. I'm going to repaint my room a pretty blue color. We went to Lowe's to get paint samples, and I've settled on three shades of blue-- "Country Blue", "Reef", or "Placid Blue". My mom and I are leaning towards the "Country Blue", however we have to wait until my new bedding arrives in order to pick the best color to go with it. But, of course it's a big project and we probably won't paint my room until the summer. But, I'm excited. Mom has been talking about going to an orthodontist (because I still haven't gotten braces). And my teeth are soooo screwed up, it'll take at LEAST 2 1/2 years to straighten my teeth out. GREAT. I'm going to go through most of my college years in braces. I am NOT looking forward to this. UGH. I haven't even seen ONE person at Smith with braces on. I'M going to be the only one. grrr... Anywayz, that's my update for now. Hopefully, I'll get to see some of you while I'm here. I'm really sad that I'm missing all the dances next week. Smith should have held out for another week, but oh well. I'll have to be satisfied with one weekly lesson. am very sad.
Side Note: I went to the barn on Saturday. Because I haven't ridden in a while, I am soooo SORE. EVERYTHING hurts. Ow... |

| | Datenshi Blue- Lucifer- Kaikan Phrase | ] | I love my classes this year. It turns out that my Japanese Lang and Culture class is a linguistics class, and I decided that my final paper is going to be on the differences in gender and how that affects feminine and masculine forms. FUN!~ I am excited. I have to turn in a list of references I'm going to use and an overall outline by Monday. My History 121 class is by far my favorite. Professor McGinness is HILARIOUS and I love him! He's quirky and old. On the first day, he wore a tweed jacket with leather patches and matching tweed slacks. He's great. While he lectures, he has a slide show going to compliments the topics. But whenever we were talking about "barbarian tribes" in ancient history, he always showed these covers of romance books, with the guy with bulging muscles and long hair. And then he would say, 'I know you probably think and WANT them to look like this, but they actually look like this'. And then he'll show a slide of a more realistic representation of what they looked like. My Chinese Poetry class is awesome. It's almost like taking my writing class at NOCCA, because we analyze the poems a lot and what we think and symbolism, etc. And Professor Wu really tries to get you to connect with the poem. I am failing Japanese. Everytime Hubbard-sensei, Domeki-sensei, or Takahashi-sensei call on my to answer a question or translate a sentence, I'm like "um...." and the teacher has to help me along. UGH! Japanese gave me my first 'C' EVER! I'm probably just going to take it over again next year so that I can finally understand what's going on in my Japanese class. For the amount of work that I do in this class, it should be more than 5 credits. Anywayz, that's my life at the moment. My only midterm next week is in my history class, but I feel really confident about it, so I'm not worried. I'll be home on March, 16th. Ah, Louisiana. I'm sad that I'm going to miss seeing Stephen as Bum #1 in 'Little Shop of Horrors' in the Spring Musical this year. Grrr! Oh well, why worry about things you can't change? Anywayz, this has been my update about my life.
On a side note, it turns out that Fred Phelps' father was gay and his family belonged to a gay-friendly church while growing up. He got accepted into West Point (or some other military academy), and had to wait a year until he began his training. So, he went home, which happens to be in Mississippi, and waited until he had to report to the academy. During this time period, he has a relationship with a man. He then introduces his lover to his sister, the three of them date for a while, and finally his sister marries his lover. Apparently, my friend Liz did some research on the subject, and she told me about this. And in the words of Caredwen, "Well, now who's being a sour grape?" |

| | angry | ] | GRRRR... Fred Phelps is one of the worst human beings on the face of this earth! What a cultist bastard! I'd like to consider myself among those adamantly for free speech for all, but if I had a choice, I would revoke his. And not that I'm the most patriotic soul, but he is so anti-American. He basically says that god hates America because our "new-wave generational way of thinking" that allows gay men and women to actually have RIGHTS to be who they are. And he actually protested at Coretta Scott King's funeral! I KNOW! My first reaction was 'WHY?!' It turns out that they picketed at her funeral, because they thought that she was "whore" and "should rot in hell" for "allowing gays to ride on the backs of the black civil rights movement". And he said that an "ANGRY god smited her down." First of all, Coretta Scott King is one of the most modest women who ever lived. Period. End of story. Second of all, she died peacefully in her bed when she was like 100. Apparently her unexpected death was caused by god. yeah, right. how dare he go to her funeral and do this! And, if you haven't been watching the news lately, Phelps is on the move going from funeral to funeral of soldiers killed in Iraq. And he believes that the soldiers were hand-picked by god to die because they are gay. Everyone knows that there are gay men and women in the military. But the whole military does not consist of gay people, Fred Phelps! If my brother went to Iraq, and died, and I had to deal with Fred Phelps at his funeral. I would be out there with a shot gun. No jury in the country would convict someone who shot Fred Phelps. LOL I 1000% support the Patriot Bikers who ride to protect the families from Fred Phelps. And they are soooo sweet. You see them in interviews and there talking about the families, and how they felt really privileged to help them out. I love them. Anywayz, sorry for the downer entry. I just needed to rant. |

HELLO EVERYONE! HELLO LJ, HOW I HAVE MISSED YOU! *SIGH* It's only the 4th week of school, and I am already burned out. Well, not "burned out" in that I hate school, but "burned out" in that I feel like I've been here forever and finals should be next week, instead of in May. Oh well. Belatedly, Valentine's Day ROCKED! So great. And at midnight, they had a V-Day Hate Jam at the Campus Center, where anybody and everybody read poems or stories or statements about hating V-Day, etc. It was hysterical sometimes. I LOVE SMITH (not that y'all don't know that already). My classes are as follows: Japanese I MWF--> 10-10:50 TTH--->10:30-11:20 JPN Language and Culture MW--->1:10-2:30 Chinese Poetry and Art MW--->2:40-4:00 History 121: 300-1300 CE TTH--->1:15-2:30 So, I'm taking 18 hours. I love all of my classes. Except Japanese cuz I suck, but what else is new. Rally Day is tomorrow, which means classes are cancelled! HALLELUJAH! HALLELUJAH! It's basically a day for seniors, but classes are cancelled for everyone. Don't ask me why, but I'm not gonna look a gift horse in the mouth. And for tea this Friday, my mom is sending my THREE, count em, THREE king cakes and I am beyond ecstatic. YAY! The only bad thing about being at Smith is having to go without Mardi Gras for 4 years. Yes, it sucks. I am sick today so I am snuggled in my comforter, writing this, and watching the amc morning movie of Meet Joe Black, which is a movie that I LOVE! Actually, it's just ending, then I'll probably watch, "When a Man loves a Woman" which is the movie where Meg Ryan plays an alcoholic and how it affects her love and her marriage, and then HAPPY ENDING. On second thought, that's seriously depressing. I just might watch the amazing number of disney movies that we have. They're pretty much happy all the way through. Anyways, that's it for now. I leave you with this important, vital info that everyone must know about me.
My test tracked 2 variables How you compared to other people your age and gender: | You scored higher than 62% on ABC | | You scored higher than 31% on XYZ |

It basically snowed from midnight until 2 pm today. And we got like a 14 inches. The snow was up to my knee! It was really funny watching the people hired to plow and shovel the walkways, because as soon as they finished, it was already covered with snow again. But I got to finally wear my huge coat and my snow boots (YAY for snow boots!). Snow boots rock because you don't slip on ice and break your ass. Well, I had a fun snow day! We threw ourselves upon the snow, went sledding down the huge hill next to the stables, made snow angels, and had snowball fights. Although you can't really call it a snowball fight because the snow was too powdery, similar to that of ice that's made for snow cones (I said snowcones instead of snowballs so you wouldn't get confused!) so we couldn't pack it into a ball, so we basically pick up handfuls of snow and hoped to hit the other person. Anywayz, it was fun! This coming week is the last week of classes, then finals, then HOME!!!! 12 DAYS and COUNTIN... YAY |

We danced for an hour and a half to this jazz band called the Blue Nomads, consisting of six Amherst guys (drums, electric guitar, saxophone/oboe, trumpet, piano, and bass). ALL HOT! They were fantastic! And then the Smith a capella group, the Noteables, sang. And the Coleby Eight, an all boy a capella group from Maine, finished the night. All of the performances were great. It was one of the best parties I've been to on campus. And after the party, I went to one of my friends and told her I definitely needed something, and so she gave me the biggest rum-coke I've ever had. I am just a little-bit hungover right now, but I took some advil and hopefully they'll kick in soon. And so I got up late this morning, went down to breakfast, and saw that it was snowing outside! I love snow so much! I can't believe I lived 19 years without seeing it. It's so beautiful. It's only about 5 inches so far, but it's been snowing for the past 2-3 hours, so hopefully it'll get deeper. And then the house is going to go out and play in the snow. YAY!
